In the Pirelli Trophy Alexis De Bernardi set the fifth fastest time amongst the drivers in the AM class, which meant that he could start from sixth row of the starting grid. In the Shell Cup pole position went to Singhania ahead of Prinoth (Ineco/MP). Fons Scheltema started from row two thanks to the third fastest time of the field. Meanwhile Rick Lovat had set the fifth fastest time and Duyver started from row eight.
With the weather unpredictable today in Emilia-Romagna and a constant threat of rain in the air, race two of the Pirelli Trophy was dominated by overall winner Björn Grossmann (Octane 126). De Bernardi gained a fifth overall place in the AM class. The driver from Luxemburg was slowed down when he had to come to the box to get rid of foliage his car had picked up on the track, blocking the radiator inlets and this raising the temperature of the 458 Challenge EVO’s eight cylinders.
Race two in the Shell Cup offered a long duel between Singhania and Prinoth, which was won by the latter. Second place went to Singhania, third place to Scheltema and fourth to Lovat, who fought an exciting duel right to the chequered flag. Duyver close his race in eight place.
The next Ferrari Challenge Europe race will be held in only two weeks on the Spanish race track of “Ricardo Tormo” just outside Valencia.
