The ultimate development of the much acclaimed Giulietta, the Giulia Spider is a stylish little convertible designed by Pininfarina.
The Giulia Spider, introduced in 1955 together with the Sprint and Sprint Speciale in 1962, was a rebadged and updated versions of earlier Giulietta models (series 101), now with a 1.6 litre instead of a 1.3 litre engine. Alfa was one of the first “mainstream” manufacturers to put such a powerful engine in a lightweight car, the Giulia weighed only about 1,000 kilograms.
The car was equipped with a light alloy twin overhead camshaft four-cylinder engine, similar to that of the earlier Giulietta models range, producing 110 hp and paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The car was noted for its lively performance, especially considering the modest engine size and the capability of out-performing many famous sports cars of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
